Internet Exchange Nepal (npIX) held its 8th Annual General Meeting in Indreni Foodland, Kathmandu on 17th Mangsir 2074 (3rd December 2017). Rupesh Bhakta Shrestha, CEO of npIX presented financial report and Annual progress report to the gathering and was approved. Gaurab Raj Upadhaya (chairman of npIX) chaired the meeting and presented the future plans of npIX. The meeting was crucial milestone for npIX as several important decisions for growth of npIX was approved in the meeting including expansion of npIX nodes and services, strengthening the secretariat, providing administrative and accounting support to npNOG, commitment of members to support npIX to hold APRICOT 2018 successfully and increase in membership fee structure. The AGM minutes will be made available to members upon request by email to: secretariat@npix.net.np

npNOG-3 workshop and conference is going to be organized in Bharatpur, Chitwan from 9th December 2017 to 11th December 2017. The workshop will have 3 tracks on IPv6, System Administration and Network Administration. Conference will be on 11th December from 1pm onwards. The Event is co-hosted by Internet Exchange Nepal.
Internet Exchange Nepal’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled on 3rd December 2017 (Sunday) at Indreni Foodland, Baneshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal from 5:30pm onwards. Members are invited and requested to attend the meeting.
npIX is supporting Nepal Internet Governance Forum [Nepal IGF] event. Nepal IGF is a multi-stakeholder forum initiated to promote and encourage open and inclusive dialogue and exchange of ideas among all stakeholders involved with Internet governance related issues in Nepal. The event, with the theme of “Building Sustainable Internet Ecosystem in Nepal” is being held on 18-19 August, 2017 at Yellow Pagoda Hotel, Kantipath-1, Kathmandu, Nepal.
South Asian Network Operators Group (SANOG)’s 30th edition took place in Gurgaon, India from July 10th to 18th, 2017. npIX board members attended the SANOG-XXX conference to invite greater participation from South Asian Region to APRICOT 2018 in Kathmandu next year. Mr. Rupesh Shrestha, CEO, npIX did presentation about npIX and APRICOT during the conference and also attended APNIC meeting to invite the participants to APRICOT 2018. npIX board members also had meeting with APIA, organizer of APRICOT during which various topics including providing special regional rate for SAARC countries were discussed.
ISP Association of India (ISPAI) and delegates attending SANOG-XXX showed huge interest to invitations from npIX board members to attend APRICOT from February 19th to 28th, 2018 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Internet Exchange Nepal (npIX) and Nepal Network Operators’ Group (npNOG) jointly organized npNOG-2 conference at Hotel Malla on June 18th, 2017. The conference was inaugurated by Chairman of Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), Mr. Digambar Jha. The event was heavily participated by people involved and interested in Internet and data network field. Mr. Matt Jansen from FACEBOOK did his keynote presentation at the conference.
The event also had workshops on “IPv4/v6 routing”, “Optical fiber networking” and “Network security” from June 15th to June 17th, 2017. Huge participation interest was seen for workshop and was successfully organised with support from industry leading local instructors and APNIC instructors.

npIX board members participated in Apricot 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam from Feb 26th to March 2nd, 2017. During the event, npIX board members attended APIX meeting, meeting with APIA for preparation of Apricot 2018 in Kathmandu. Mr. Rupesh Shrestha, CEO of Internet Exchange Nepal did a presentation to invite participants to next year’s APRICOT in Kathmandu. The Conference was attended by 654 delegates from 56 different countries.
During the event, npIX Chairman, Mr. Gaurab RajUpadhaya was re-elected in APNIC Executive Council (EC) election with majority votes from APNIC members.
Mr. Rupesh Shrestha also attended phNOG in Manila, Philippines as resource speaker and presented about npIX, npNOG and APRICOT 2018 in Nepal.
Internet Exchange Nepal (npIX) and Nepal Network Operator’s Group (npNOG) proudly announces a program for “npNOG Launch” followed by conference and cocktail dinner. The conference will have several paper presentations relating to Nepal network operational updates, progress, challenges and new technologies.
Following the conference day, a 3day workshop will be organized jointly by npIX and npNOG in two different tracks. Each workshop will have technical experts conduct training in practical environment setup with hands on training.
